This weekend, I had time to work in one last Valentine craft… I have always loved fortune cookies and the little surprise each one holds inside on a little slip of paper. I love this felt Valentine craft, because these can be left around the house for my hubby or even my children and I can leave a little note of love in them. These could also work as little Valentine favors for each classmate or for decor around the house for Valentine’s Day. The best part is that these were extremely easy to make, I whipped up 18 of these in under an hour.
This craft is an affordable one, all you need is felt in different colors, floral wire and thin ribbon that matches the color in the felt. You’ll also need a hot glue gun… but, if you are as big of a crafter as me, you should have one already. 🙂
Find a lid that is 4″ across and use it to trace circles on the felt pieces.
Then, cut out all of the circles.
Then cut a strip of wire that is just under 4″ and lay it across one of the circles.
Then take a hot glue gun and put a strip of glue down over the floral wire, then press a strip of ribbon over it.
Then fold your felt in half
Press the two ends together and you’ll see it transform into a fortune cookie! So easy!
I printed up some fortunes and cut them into little strips and placed them inside the fortune cookies. I have made a PDF for 18 fortunes and you can download it HERE.
Then, tuck your little fortunes inside each fortune cookie (you can also put the little slip of paper inside the fortune with you fold it in half to save time). Aren’t these little fortune cookies adorable in these Valentine colors? Hobby Lobby even had patterned felt that I almost bought, I think they would have made adorable fortune cookies too!
I placed these fortunes into an old wooden basket that has wooden hearts on the end. I love how they are overflowing out of the basket.
I took a lot of photos of these felt fortune cookies and I am going to let the photos do the talking now:
I am really looking forward to Valentine’s Day! I hope this little craft is one that you’ll want to try or Pin for later. Thanks for stopping by!
