Last Friday, Brian and I took a day off of work together… it was a gorgeous Fall day and I just love hanging out with Brian, he is my bestest friend in the whole wide world. After we dropped the kids off at school, we headed over to Rooster for breakfast. This place is a French cafe with all kinds of breakfast and dessert crepes. It is also voted as one of the top breakfast places in St. Louis right now.
I loved the little mason jars that they served our water in.
I had to take photos of what we ordered, because it was just so fantastic. Brian got a breakfast crepe with MO sausage, spiced apples, and cheddar. It even came with apple cider, just for dipping! Does that make your mouth melt over or what?!
I ordered a crepe with egg, cheddar, potatoes and house made salsa. It was so good. So filling, too!
Then, it was time for dessert. I was so full, but I will never pass up a dessert crepe. We ordered the s’mores crepe with cookie crumbs, marshmallow and dark chocolate. I wanted to lick the plate… actually, what I really wanted to do was order a second one! It was so, so good. I must came back here for breakfast sometime SOON.
After breakfast, we had some time to kill before the winery opened. We would have gone home for a bit to relax, but the maids were there… SO, we decided to head out towards the winery, but stop for some shopping. I am in the middle of half marathon training, so we stopped at Feet Fleet for some supplies. I can’t wait to try the new Salted Carmel GU!!!
After Fleet Feet, we still had an hour to kill before the winery opened… so we decided to check out Taubman Prestige, a new outlet mall. This was actually GOBS of fun!
It wouldn’t be complete without a trip to J. Crew!!!
Then we headed into Banana Repubs and that is where I wanted to rip EVERYTHING off the racks and take it home. This orange hounds tooth sweater? Oh, I wanted it.
This navy blazer for only $102?! Steal! I didn’t buy it, because I want a coral blazer more. And, they were out of my size in the coral color. 🙁 I also wanted the brown boots, but… I think I can do better elsewhere.
I did walk away with this AWESOME quilted jacket in navy. I LOVE this jacket and I can’t wait to rock it this Fall. It is so warm, too! I think it was $120? Brian found a pair of pants, a button down shirt AND a sweater and his total was less than my coat. Hmph.
It was finally time to drive to the winery, yay! Our favorite winery in Augusta is Montelle, but… we decided to try out one of the newer wineries in August, Chandler Hill Vineyards. I loved the view driving up the windy road to the place!
When we arrived at the winery, we paid $5 each to sample 5 wines each. We ordered the same wine 3 times in a row, then decided to order different ones so we could taste a little of each others. It was a lot of fun!
Then we stepped out on the patio and enjoyed the breathtaking view. Just gorgeous! But, not as grand as looking into Brian’s eyes! 🙂
We ordered our favorite wine that we had sampled, the Chandler Hill Old Bridge Chambourcin. I love this wine!
We ate an awful lot last Friday. We started with a cheese and sausage plate.
Salads and baguettes of bread for lunch… and, they were really GOOD salads!
So relaxing. We even saw a lady that had brought her dog.
It was such a wonderful day, I loved sitting with Brian and chatting it up for HOURS with just a gorgeous view, good wine and food. Such a perfect day. I was sort of sad when it was all over… it is nice to get away from it all for a day, when normally I’d be at work. Especially with my favorite person.
We finished the day with, MORE FOOD! A peanut butter brownie. I normally don’t eat like this. Trust me.
I am so glad I have Brian, he is just absolutely perfect for me! Life is so good, I feel so blessed!
