I decided to try a new half marathon this fall and I decided to try a new half marathon this fall and I landed up with my first PR in years!🏅Yay! I signed up for The Great GO! Halloween Half Marathon, which was in Eureka, MO. I landed up with a 2+ minute PR!! I finished at a 9:32 pace and my time was 2:04:48. I had set a goal of 9:35 for myself, but I beat my goal by a bit. I have been in a rut for a long time with my runs and I decided to hire a coach this time around. WOW! I was training all wrong and with her guidance, she taught me a lot about how to train correctly and efficiently. I plan to do another blog post just about my coaching experience sometime before my Spring half marathon. So stay tuned for that! A couple things that I did differently this time was doing 100% of my training runs outside (no treadmill runs, I used to do 2 out of 3 of my weekly runs on the treadmill) and she added speed workouts (which I hate, but they help SO much!). We had a wonderful time this weekend at the @RitzC We had a wonderful time this weekend at the @RitzCarltonStLouis for their Pink Ribbon🎀 Afternoon Tea Service☕️🫖 #gifted in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Lobby Lounge is newly reimagined, such an attractive space for an afternoon tea. They had several specialty teas to select from to fit the theme and I went with the Indian Rose Garden. It was delicious! They let me try a different tea (the Hibiscus) when the sweets came out. The savory dishes were artifully crafted and delicious! My favorite was the Smoked Duck Breast followed by the Roasted Prime Beef. The Ritz Carlton never skimps on the details and when they brought out the freshly baked blueberry scones🫐, the Devonshire Cream, Jam and Chocolate Sauce🍫 were in decorative and edible chocolate cups. My husband and I agreed this was our favorite part of the entire afternoon tea time! Then we finished the hour off with a huge assortment of delectable treats, such as a Pink Strawberry🍓 White Chocoalte Profiterole, Orange Lavender Madeleine, Rose Hibiscus Macaron and more! Wow! What a treat it was and for such a good cause.
